We formed in 2012 as a local residents' association focused on providing a forum for discussion on local concerns and issues and a vehicle for providing organised events for the village of Leeming Bar
Over the next couple of years we put on village events like fetes and picnics in the park two or three times a year. We created roadside planters at each entry to the village in collaboration with A1L2B. We also redeveloped the long planter at the Wensleydale Railway Station having formed a strong partnership with the railway. We still do at least two litter picks a year.
One of our members suggested that we buy a railway carriage and make it into a Village Hall. The village didn't have an operational building so we "floated" the idea. We issued a press release and later in 2014 a local business offered to buy it for us and gave us some start up money. Thank you ABP Wessex!
A small team set to to convert a derelict carriage into a multi-purpose space which would meet almost any need. Fundraising commenced and at the present time we have raised around £80,000 to make a state of the art venue with its own dedicated platform at the Leeming Bar Station.
